inond2000.jpgThe Inon D-2000 uses an optical cable connected to the camera’s housing that reads the camera’s internal flash and transmits it to the D-2000. The D2000 sends out a pre-flash that camera reads and then the second main flash is sent buy the D2000 at the required intensity for the exposure.
INON’s D-2000 system uses a light blocking filter over the camera’s flash that transmits only Infrared light to communicate with the external strobe. It is easy to hookup multiple strobes with this optical sync system. The camera will measure the pre-flash from the D2000 reflecting off the subject telling the strobe to make the proper exposure.
Now all digital cameras can be used the new INON D2000 strobe with the exception of the Sony F710.
S-TTL is a new TTL light control system used by the INON D-200 strobe. The camera reads the pre-flash from the D-2000 and then determines the D-2000’s main flash output. Read the rest of this entry »

strobeart1.jpg

When a bunch of us were first playing around with shooting digital cameras underwater and discussing our xperiences on the internet, it quickly became obvious hat all of us were running into the same road block
– how to use a strobe. Just about everyone that I know tried to use a normal slave strobe, only to discover that most digital cameras fire a pre-flash that causes the slave strobe to fire before the shutter is actually open. In my first version of this essay I focused on one strobe in particular that had found a way to solve this problem and detailed the design features of two strobes yet to be released. Three years have seen a lot of changes in cameras, in the housings for the cameras, and in the strobes available for use with them. Read the rest of this entry »

The UCL-330 close-up lens has a 330mm focal length and makes high magnification close-up photography possible by shortening the close focus distance, allowing the photographer to get closer to the subject. Also, the lens is designed to work effectively both above and below water, allowing the photographer to capture macro subjects above water, and in wet or splash type environments.

Fuji S5 Pro

Fuji S5 Pro

Fuji S5 Pro

Fujifilm today announces the development of the FinePix S5 Pro, the keenly-awaited successor to the acclaimed FinePix S3 Pro. In a DSLR market that is much more competitive and dynamic than the one its predecessor was launched into, the FinePix S5 Pro will stand apart from the crowd by combining the much sought-after picture quality of Fujifilm’s Super CCD SR sensor with a fully digital and durable professional metal alloy body. With this superior combination of truly professional handling and image quality, Fujifilm expects the FinePix S5 Pro to appeal to an even broader range of professional photographers.

Fujifilm’s ultimate goal in development of its DSLR cameras has been to maximise image quality through constant research and development into its sensor technology. With the introduction six years ago of its acclaimed Super CCD, Fujifilm moved away from increasing the pixel density of its sensors in favour of image quality developments that increase the overall performance of the sensor. The FinePix S5 Pro will see the refinement of a winning formula – Fujifilm’s Super CCD SR II will be updated to the new Super CCD SR Pro. Using a unique layout of twelve million paired photodiodes (6.17 million larger ‘S’ photodiodes for main image information, combined with 6.17 million smaller ‘R’ photodiodes for bright area information), the S5 Pro will deliver improvements in noise, dynamic range, colour and tonality. Further improving the capability of the sensor, a new, improved low-pass filter will ensure that moiré and noise are kept to an absolute minimum. Fujifilm believes improvements in these key areas will be of more true value to professional photographers – the challenge is quality of information, not quantity of information.

Canon PowerShot A640
Filed under (Cameras Equipment, Prosumer) by admin @ 03:19 am

Canon A640

Review based on a production Canon PowerShot A640

The PowerShot A640, launched in August, just before Photokina 06, replaces the popular A620 at the top of Canon’s increasingly well-specified ‘budget’ A series range. The new model gets a bit of a facelift (and a new coat of black paint) as well as a bigger screen, major pixel boost (up from 7MP to 10MP) and a few feature tweaks. Otherwise it offers pretty much everything the A620 did; 4x zoom lens, tilt and swivel LCD, full photographic control and optional converter lenses. And like its predecessor, the A640 was launched with an almost identical twin, the A630, the only major difference being the sensor (8MP as opposed to 10MP). Therefore much of what is said in this review will also be applicable to the A630 (we will be adding A630 IQ results in the new year). The A620 was one of our favorite cameras of the last 12 months, and is a tough act to follow. So is the A640 up to the job? Let’s find out, starting with the headline features…
